Streaky Bay
Murphies Haystacks
We Followed the Bro's advice and went to Murphies Haystacks which are very interesting and then onto Point Labett and viewed the sea lion colony all lazing about in the water and on the sand was funny watching them laying in the waves and being rolled up and down the beach.The rd from the haystacks is dirt but in very good condition so wouldnt have been a problem to rd vans if they wished to do that route.
We arrived at Streaky Bay and Booked into the van park for a night or too need to wash clothes and fill tanks and with the level 5 water restrictions here in SA it is hard finding taps to fill up the water tanks so this will have to do allthough the neighbours arnt real friendly, think they didnt like us pulling up beside them now I remember why I dont like van parks .And now I just get of the ph with the bro he's got a good mate up the rd where we could have stayed.
Walkers Rocks
We left Walkers xing yesterday as the wind was still blowing
hard, was up at Midnight closing the awning and packing away chairs just in case it rained.We headed out and we did see this woodfired bread shop but didnt stop wish we had of now after the comment from lizard but only saw the comment tonight .

We are now here in a reliable service area after our last post, we have been at Lisbon cove a very bueatiful spot overlooking the beach but without the wind which we recieved.
We left there this morning heading south into a strong headwind calling into Tumby Bay for a look then Louth bay, worth staying but to early in the morning for us to stop so we headed south towards Port Lincoln where we stopped to do some shopping.
Port Lincoln was a very Caravan friendly town I thought as they provided many caravan parking spots usually on a corner close to amenities.
From Port Lincoln we turned North and a tail wind Yahoo called in for a look at Coffin bay and Lunch and onto Elliston what a nice town but the splash of fuel at $1.63 a litre was hurtfull we are now at a spot called Walkers rocks 140k s of Streaky bay bewdiful scenery and miles of beach driving

We left Port Augusta this morning after sayin our hoo roos to Brian and Lis and headed towards Whyalla where we hit the rain or should i say the aftermath of a heavy storm at one stage hitting a huge puddle across the rd that felt like we were in a submarine
as our vision with wipers running flat out was blurred for for some seconds making Ned grab the holy cow handles.
We may stay here another night will determine that in the morning see what the weather does as at the moment it's blowing and has been raining if it keeps raining we are out of here as the rd is pretty muddy and slippery to say the least but I'm up to the challenge I think

Port Augusta
$2 each Bargain
Murray River Waikerie lookout
Last night we stayed at Lock 9 free camp on the Murray was a tight track but we got in Ok. We camped on the track as the river was up a bit thinking no more about it till today you can read why after the outlook from our kitchen window was beautiful and the big Carp swimming on the edges were amazing. (Will load some pics soon)
Well today we arrived here in Pt Augusta our original intentions were to stay around on the Murray river at some free camps we know of but as we found out around Waikerie the river was up a little bit, places like Ramco and Hogwash were under water not a little bit but a lot, Mick if you remember Hogwash turn of Bituman 100 mtrs down the dirt rd was a mtre at least deep.
Cadel ferry ride the ramp was at least 1/2 way up the ramp, was amazing to see from the last time we crossed here and the surrounding countryside is so green and lush a real change in the scenery from our last visit.
The downside from this is the damn locust on the fly they do make a mess of the windscreen and the front of car not looking forward to cleaning.
Mandy I reckon you will love it if you were to follow the Murray and seeing it so lush and green
Anyway we will see where we go from here I think Eyre pininsula might be OK but being a long weekend here will look at all the options

Leaving Maldon
We will be leaving Maldon on Thursday heading toward Port Augusta.
Hopefully Brian & Lis might be able to catch up as we will not be heading to Adelaide and he needs to put some K's up on the 200 series anyway.
We still haven't found any gold and will give it the last chance tomorrow morning before we leave but all the same have found it to be good fun and will next try when we get to the west around Kalgoorlie later in the year.
Fuel prices are becoming a real worry but slowly we will go on and sort that out as we head west, cant complain as it would still be the same at home might just have to take more time than we wanted to to get to the west.
Good to see John and Rhonda have started to follow on, as we only travel on Sundays LOL

Maldon Vic
OK now that I have revived this site I will try and keep it updated a bit more.
Left home Sunday for a leisurely 2 day drive down the Hume hwy
We are currently camped at free camp Mallies in the golden triangle of Vic at a little town called Maldon
It has been really cold mornings down as low as 5degrees thank goodness Ned has the heater.
We have been gold Fossicking the last 2 days we havn't had much success only bullets and boot tacks so far but Mally has found a small Nugget as they say ya have to find 300 bits of junk to 1 piece of gold.
We keep battling on for the fortune which we may need to be able to pay for the rising fuel prices
